This is the photo that the Clarion-Ledger published under the headline “Walmart customers riot when unable to use EBT cards.” The paper is purposefully distorting the incident to hide the fact that the looters were black.
In Philadelphia, Mississippi customers on welfare became enraged when they couldn’t use their EBT (food stamp debit cards) and began looting the store. The looters were mostly, if not all black.
Yet, the Jackson, Mississippi Clarion-Ledger is purposefully trying to get their readers to think it was white people. They ran the headline “Walmart customers riot when unable to use EBT cards,” but published a completely unrelated stock photograph of a white family underneath.
Philadelphia, Mississippi is located in rural Neshoba County. In 2009, a staggering 39% of all black people in the county were on food stamps. Only 13% of the white people were on food stamps.
Side Note: The Clarion-Ledger has a history of running attacks on the CofCC. According to Alex.com, this website gets significantly more web traffic than their entire newspaper website. Maybe that is why they don’t like us.
